Excellent at this price point August 25, 2010 deal hunter I wanted a large monitor to use at my desk with my 13" macbook. I didn't have the $$$ for an Apple LED Cinema Display 24-Inch MB382LL/A so I settled on this after reading a lot of reviews online.
The good:
1) Beautifully styled. I just love the sleek look of this monitor! The "touch of red" around the edges doesn't bother me at all, though for some people they find it annoying.
2) Excellent menu system, easy to navigate. There are a lot of user-controlled settings that are easy to adjust.
3) Very sturdy stand. The monitor has very little wobble to it even if you intentionally try to push it around.
4) At this price point, the quality of the display is excellent. There's no discernable lag and the black is decent. Is it as good as the monitor on my laptop? Would it be satisfactory for a professional graphic designer? NO way. I dim the monitor on my laptop and don't use it, because to go from one to the other makes the difference in image quality that much more obvious. But for this price what can you expect?
5) Outstanding connection options. I use this monitor with my laptop, as a TV, and to connect gaming systems and cameras to.
The bad:
1) The stand has no capacity for adjustment. You're stuck with the height and the tilt of it. Fortunately for me, the height is not a problem at all, and unless you're a giant or a "little person" it's probably just fine for you.
2) If you ever decide to pack it back up into its box (to sell it or if you move), you really have to put a lot of muscle into detaching the stem of the stand from the back of the monitor. It does eventually come out, but boy does it take some doing.
3) Fingerprints show up really easily along the edges, i.e. if you use the "buttons" on the monitor itself. I use the remote to turn it on and off to avoid this.

This TV is not our main TV. The only problem that I have with this TV (for our type of use) is the SOUND. I am now looking to buy an external TV sound system for a TV that was suppose to be just for a bedroom. I suggest you do not buy this TV for someone that is older and hard of hearing UNLESS you additionally purchase a sound system for them!

HDMI unuseable for PC connection August 11, 2010 Alexandre Grigoriev (Irvine, CA USA) I need to use HDMI to connect it to the PC, to be able to watch BluRay disks. This requires HDMI connection. Not DVI. Unfortunately, the monitor INSISTS on applying sharpening to HDMI input, and also skews the colors to bluish tint.
So I read that I can assign HDMI input as "PC". UNFORTUNATELY, that throws brightness off to like 50%. It's impossible to tune the picture to normal.
And even if I used HDMI input to connect to a bluray player, why would I want additional sharpening? If it's a grainy movie, this stupid sharpening will just amplify grain. Even set to 0, it doesn't go away. Even disabled in the menus, it doesn't go away.
There is firmware upgrade for european version of this monitor. But I don't know if it fixes the problem ,and it won't load to the american version, anyway.
Great for use as both a TV and Computer Monitor! August 3, 2010 Kari Skinner (Kansas City) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this tv on sale at Costco a couple of months ago. I LOVE it. I'm a college kid and just rent a room from someone, so this is the only tv I have and works perfect for everything I need.
I love hooking it up to my macbook pro (the back of the tv has a built in computer vga cable input) and using it for streaming things from the internet, or just to have some extra desktop space while doing big graphic design projects.
The picture quality is great - clear, bright colors.
The sound isn't just incredible, but is great for a small TV. I'm considering getting some external speakers though for when I want to boost the bass - but the built in speakers do the job well and are plenty loud for everyone in the room to hear (I NEVER have to turn it up all the way).
The interface for switching between Computer/TV/Wii works great - I enjoy the menu gui that is semi-transparent while still showing whatever you have playing behind it.
Aesthetically speaking, this is a beautiful machine... I adore the red "rose black" color with the clear see-through framing (and pedestal) around it - very fun.
Overall I highly recommend this TV. Perfect size for dorm/kitchen/bedroom use, and not so small that you couldn't use it in the living room if you want to have a nice quality tv on a lower budget.
A wonderful HDTV & monitor July 9, 2010 J. J. Eige (CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am writing this review while using the Samsung P2370HD as a monitor. The resolution is great, even for small text. The connection from a MacbookPro is via its Mini DisplayPort, through an adapter, to the DVI port on the monitor. (Digital all the way.) Pixel edges are indistinguishable at normal viewing distance. I have not tried connecting through the analog ports, but would not expect that to be as crisp.
The TV connection is HDMI from a cable HDTV box. The picture is excellent, in HD or standard TV. The sound of the built-in speakers is even very good, at least to my old ears. I was prepared to connect external speakers, but find no need to do so. The sound may be aided by this TV's location on a hard surface close to a hard wall behind it, so that the sound from the down-facing speakers can reflect forward.
Even when turned off, the unit looks very good, with the clear edges and post, plus the subtle red highlights on the black parts.
I bought two of these units elsewhere before finding the Amazon listing, but the price was about the same -- very reasonable. Highly recommended!
